Cost of Corneal Transplantation

The cost of penetrating keratoplasty is £6861.  

The cost of DMEK is £7901.

The cost of DSAEK is £7621.

The cost of DALK is £6861.

The cost quoted here is for self-funding patients and is correct as at 4th June 2017.  It includes the facility fee, the surgeon's fee, the anaesthetists fee, the cost of the donor cornea tissue and all follow-up appointments related to this surgery for the first six post-operative months.  

Mr. Flynn works with AXA PPP, BUPA and VITALITY private health insurers.  If you have private health insurance, the self-pay information above does not apply.  Your insurance company will usually cover the cost of corneal transplant surgery as a day-case.  Insurance companies and policies differ in terms of whether the cost of the transplant tissue is covered. You are advised to check with your insurer about the level and type of cover you have prior to your consultation.  

Please be advised that the donor tissue is usually imported by Moorfields Eye Hospital from the United States of America and cost may fluctuate according to the exchange rate.
